You could class the Alien as one of those “things that go bump in the night”, but you’d be guilty of grievous inaccuracy. The Alien doesn’t go “bump”. It goes “hsssssssssssssssssssssssss”. And then, while your heart tries to clamber right up into your larynx – the drawn-out thud-thud-thud of its taloned feet, getting louder, coming closer. That nasal whine? That’s you, taking it like a man.
