Call of Duty Black Ops Cold War Launches November 13

Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War, the direct sequel to the original, legendary Call of Duty: Black Ops, launches worldwide on Friday, November 13, for Xbox One, and is also scheduled for release on the Xbox Series X in late 2020.  

 Following the events of Black Ops, players will find themselves in 1981 when the Cold War is heating up. Tensions are at an all-time high, conspiracies are rampant, and a terrorist plot looms large. Familiar faces – Alex Mason, Frank Woods, and Jason Hudson return with new allies to stop an impending global disater. In this blockbluster single player Campaign, players will be armed with cutting-edge 80s weaponry and work to unravel an explosive and mind-bending conspiracy.

A Connected Experience Primed for the Xbox Series X

Black Ops Cold War will be a cross-generation, cross-platform, and cross-progression experience.

Currently own an Xbox One? Your profile, progression, stats, and all your items from the game’s current generation experience will all carry over to your Xbox Series X when you choose to upgrade. Read Activision’s FAQ for more information on these features.

Black Ops Cold War will continue and extend Call of Duty: Warzone, the blockbuster free-to-play, free-for-everyone battle royal experience. Black Ops Cold War features a new progression journey that is shared with Warzone, adding inventory items that can be used in both titles. Plus, Warzone players will still have access to Modern Warfare content like Operators and weapon blueprints. Go Digital for Immediate Rewards and More

Pre-orders for Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War are live now on the Microsoft Store. For digital options, players can choose from the Standard, Cross-Gen, and Ultimate editions. All digital editions include The Confrontations Weapon Pack. The pack features a five attachment Legendary assault rifle blueprint for Black Ops Cold War.

Pre-order digitally for early access to the open beta and the Sgt. Woods Operator bundle. The bundle includes the Black Ops SOG operative Frank Woods, a weapon blueprint, quip, and Finishing Move that is available for immediate use in Modern Warfare and Warzone.   • Digital Standard Edition ($59.99 USD MSRP): Includes the game on Xbox One. Players can upgrade to the Cross-Gen Edition which includes the Xbox Series X version of the game after launch for an additional $10. (Note: The Digital Standard Edition is playable on Xbox Series X via backwards compatibility but will not include any next gen features. More details in Activision’s FAQ.)
  • Digital Cross-Gen Edition($69.99 USD MSRP): Includes both Xbox One and Xbox Series X versions of the game through a dual-license tied to your Xbox account.

Get the Ultimate Edition Experience

The Digital Ultimate Edition ($89.99 USD MSRP): Includes both the Xbox One and Xbox Series X versions of the game, the “Land, Sea, and Air Pack”, and the Battle Pass Bundle (Includes 20 immediately activated Tier Skips) to purchase a Battle Pass for any Season of Black Ops Cold War.

Purchase the Ultimate Digital Edition from the Modern Warfare or Warzone Storegrants players 10 tier skips that immediately advances your current Battle Pass system progress 10 tiers.

The “Land, Sea, and Air Pack” contains three Operator skins, three vehicle skins, and three developer crafted weapon blueprints, one of each that represents the main mediums of warfare. With this pack, Operators will be more than prepared for the next generation of global combat wherever the battle takes them.

As for the Battle Pass bundle, the Battle Pass system includes free, earnable weapons, unlockable Operator skins, Call of Duty points, and more. The Battle Pass Bundle will give access to unlock all tiers of your chosen Black Ops Cold War Season’s Battle Pass system and includes 20 tier skips.

Physical Editions Available in Retail Stores

Players can also pre-order Standard Physical Editions for Xbox One and Xbox Series X at participating retailers:

  • Physical Standard Xbox One Edition ($59.99 USD MSRP): Includes the game on Xbox One. Players will not have the ability to upgrade the Physical Standard Xbox One Edition to the Xbox Series X experience. 
  • Physical Standard Xbox Series X Edition ($69.99 USD MSRP): Includes the Xbox Series X version of the game. Note: This also includes an Xbox One copy of the game.

Physical pre-orders don’t include any pre-order bonus content (Early Access Open Beta and Sgt. Frank Woods Operator) or digital bonus content (Confrontation Weapons Pack) that comes with digital pre-orders. Extended details on physical editions are found on Activision’s FAQ.
