The Division: Ubisoft breathes life back into the post-apocalypse

Tom Clancy’s next-gen debut is all about community.

Amid all the next-gen boasting and, in particular, the loud trumpeting of dramatically increased player counts, one important fact has been glossed over: people are awful. When Battlefield 3’s 24-player battles become Battlefield 4’s 64-player firefights, the potential volume of headset abuse will more than double. It’s something of which Ryan Barnard, game director of Tom Clancy’s The Division, is keenly aware, and is actively seeking to fix.
