The Division’s version of Manhattan is a wintry one, but there’s much more to it than the snowy streets and dangerous scavengers we’ve glimpsed thus far. When the game arrives on March 8, a blog post from the dev team reveals, you’ll see dynamic weather and lighting that are realistic enough to actually affect gameplay.

For example, says Senior Game Designer Fredrik Thylander, “when in a full storm, visibility is hindered, both for NPCs and the agent. Our worst storm conditions that can hit will affect aim assist and detection ranges for both players and NPCs.”

Weather and time of day can also influence the NPCs and wildlife you’ll see on the street, and the post goes on to offer some new details on The Division’s sense of scale and its impressive indoor lighting effects. For more details, check out the blog post, and be sure to keep your eye on UbiBlog, where we’ll have plenty of new details between now and The Division’s March 8 launch.
