Had you come up to me this spring, like the Balrog approaching Gandalf in Moria, and told me in no uncertain terms that Monolith’s next Lord of the Rings adaptation would be one of this year’s Games To Watch, I’d have belted you upside the headbone with my wizard’s walking stick – casting you into the same abyss that gave us such dismal licensed fare as the most recent Transformers game.
