When Wii Sports got released on the Wii in 2006, it made headlines around the globe for encouraging people to get off the couch. The same game was also known for destroying a number of television sets back in the day, and while we would love to move on from that, it seems there’s a real chance of it happening all over again with the upcoming release Nintendo Switch Sports, due out this week.

With all of this in mind, Nintendo has issued a timely reminder to be careful when playing the newest entry in the series. The company’s Japanese social accounts have shared some warnings about being aware of the space around you and your television.

Here’s a rough Google translation, which reminds adults to watch where they’re swinging, monitor children when they’re playing the game, and to make sure nobody hits the television with a Joy-Con. Nintendo also wants to make sure you’re using the wrist strap so the Joy-Con doesn’t fly away on you.

“[For parents] For your safety, please accompany your child when playing “Nintendo Switch Sports”. Please be careful not to hit the children playing with each other or hit the Joy-Con on the TV.”

“Also, when playing “Nintendo Switch Sports”, attach the strap to Joy-Con and lock it, then tighten the stopper so that the strap does not come off your wrist, and squeeze it firmly.”

Will you be exercising some caution or at least wearing a wrist strap when playing Nintendo Switch Sports later this week? Tell us down below.
