Moscow Middle School Wins Just Dance School of the Year

SHAPE (Society of Health and Physical Educators) and Just Dance have announced that Moscow Middle School in Moscow, Iowa, is the Just Dance School of the Year winner. Jessica Shawley, 2012 SHAPE America Physical Education Teacher of the Year, will accept the award on the school’s behalf. The Just Dance School of the Year program recognizes schools that promote physical education, and use Just Dance as a means for getting students more engaged in physical activity. Moscow Middle School will receive a prize package that includes a $1,000 cash reward, a trip to the 2016 SHAPE America National Convention & Expo, and branded gear, as well as a gaming console and Just Dance games.

“Over the past four years, SHAPE America has worked with Ubisoft, the makers of the active video game Just Dance, to introduce schools to a fun and different way to get students engaged in physical activity,” says Steve Jefferies, president of SHAPE America. “We are always thrilled to reward our physical education teachers for their hard work and commitment to educating students on the value of physical education and physical activity.”

“As a physical education teacher, my mission is to cultivate success by enhancing our students’ fitness and improving their physical literacy through a variety of fitness, motor skills and lifetime recreational activities, sports, and health lessons,” says Jessica Shawley. “Just Dance has served as an ideal way to do just that!”

Just Dance 2016 is currently available on PS4, Xbox One, Apple TV and Wii U. For more information on the game, check out these previous stories:
