Mortal Kombat’s 2021 Movie Reboot Is Getting A Sequel

Mortal Kombat

Last year saw the return of Mortal Kombat on the big screen and it seems the reboot has been successful enough to score a sequel.

According to an exclusive over on Deadline, New Line Cinema has hired Jeremy Slater to write the Mortal Kombat 2 script. He’s the head writer of the upcoming Marvel/Disney+ series Moon Knight. Apart from this, nothing else is really known about the sequel just yet, but according to Slater it will be “bigger and better and bloodier”:

The Mortal Kombat (2021) reboot made its debut in theatres and HBO Max last April and had a US domestic box office opening of $22.5 million, which wasn’t bad at all considering mature rating and other factors in play like the pandemic.
