The pitch: “The Escapists is a game that places you in a sandbox prison environment and tasks you with breaking out. You basically have to juggle your time between maintaining prison routines while gathering and crafting items and tools that will help you escape.”
Our take: There’s an odd take on prison life at work here, pitched somewhere between Porridge and The Shawshank Redemption. And that says a lot for the game itself, a twitchy mix of fashionable crafting, Sims-like relationship building and the kind of self-improvement activities we spent too long perfecting in GTA: San Andreas.
